# Store locator error messages and how to fix them

If your store locator cannot read its Google Sheet, visitors see a message in
place of the map. Here is what each message means and how to fix it.

Message

What it means

How to fix it

No store locations found

The sheet is empty.

Add at least one store to the sheet.

Unable to find the associated sheet

The sheet was deleted or moved.

Restore the sheet from Google Drive to restore the connection. If it cannot be
restored, create a new StoreLocator instead.

Missing columns in Google sheet

A required column is missing. The message names it.

See Missing columns below.

Sheet sync failed – column not found

A column your locator uses is missing from the sheet. The message names it.

See Missing columns below.

No active locator sheet found

No tab in the spreadsheet is set up as a store locator.

Set up a tab using the LocateStore add-on.

MISSING COLUMNS

This is the most common error. It means a column your store locator uses could
not be found in the sheet, and the message names the column or columns that are
missing.

It usually happens because a column header in the sheet was renamed or deleted,
or because a field in your settings is mapped to a column that no longer exists.

There are two ways to fix it. Use whichever suits your sheet.

RESTORE THE COLUMN IN YOUR GOOGLE SHEET

Open your store locator sheet and check that every column header the locator
expects is present. Add back any header that was renamed or deleted, and avoid
spelling mistakes or typos.

UPDATE THE MAPPING IN YOUR DASHBOARD

Go to Settings > Columns and check the columns you have mapped against. If a
field points to a column that no longer exists, map it to the correct one
instead.

Note

 * Once the sheet is fixed, your store locator recovers on its own and loads
correctly the next time it is opened. You do not need to run a force sync.
